EOP alumni chapter hosts baseball night to raise funds for student books

Educational Opportunity Program alumni and friends from CSUSB got together August 20 for a special evening of fundraising comraderie while enjoying a ballgame at the same time.

The chapter sold tickets to the San Bernardino Inland Empire 66ers minor league baseball game vs. the Lake Elsinore Storm at 66ers Stadium. A portion of the sales will benefit the EOP Alumni Chapter student book award program, which helps current EOP students to defray the rising cost of textbooks.

The EOP program provides access to higher education for historically low-income, first generation disadvantaged students who have the potential to succeed at the university level. EOP recruits, retains and graduates students by providing comprehensive support services including admission to the university, academic advisement, career and personal counseling, tutoring, some financial assistance and graduate school information.

Applicants for EOP must be educationally disadvantaged California residents with a history of low income and a need for academic assistance and support services to succeed in college. They also must demonstrate the academic potential and motivation to succeed.
